Turnaround Bristol is the new name of the Bristol Methodist Centre. After more than 100 years of Methodist work in Bristol, the centre has become a new, independent charity. Whilst the name has changed, the charity continues the work of offering compassionate, practical support to those experiencing homelessness and those who are vulnerable.
“Our vision is to see a city where people can live life to the full, in stable accommodation, never to be homeless again.” Turnaround Bristol
Turnaround Bristol is run by a knowledgeable staff team and dedicated volunteer base with many years of experience that can help the guests with a wide range of support and advice. With the help of donations of money, time, food, clothes and other supplies they are able to offer guests a warm, friendly and welcoming space where they can get cooked meals and hot drinks, a place to freshen up, access to a clothing store and access to a computer. They can also offer help with CV writing, training, job applications and various documentation they may need before gaining employment such as ID, an address and bank account applications.
Every year during Harvest, there is an opportunity for you to donate food and other supplies which we pass on to Turnaround Bristol to support their work. Our Harvest service this year is on Sunday 6th October at 10.30 am. This year they have appealed for the following items:
Tinned meat
Tinned potatoes
Baked beans
Rice pudding
Tinned custard
Tinned fruit
Evaporated milk
Cooking sauces (jars)
Sugar (bags)
Squash (bottles)
Biscuits
Crisps
Pasta and rice
Small chocolate bars
Breakfast cereal
Tea, coffee and hot chocolate
Washing powder
Men's deodorants
We also have a collection box in the church vestibule all year round for donations of food and essential items. The items required by Turnaround Bristol changes through the year, so keep an eye out for updated lists attached to the notice boards or speak to June Ladd (Joint senior steward).
